Who is eligible to apply to this scholarship program?

Applicants need to:

  • Fulfill the test and documentation requirements of the scholarship program.
  • Be Egyptian nationals, who are residents of Egypt (preference will not be given to holders of dual nationality).
  • Plan on pursuing their master’s degree at one of the top universities in the United States in the field of Business Administration or Construction Management.
  • Be prepared to commence their degree in the United States during the academic year of 2017.
  • Commit to returning to Egypt for two years upon the completion of their master’s degree program.
  • Have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 or Very Good (overall grade).
  • Have been involved or are currently involved in extracurricular activities (applicants should be able to provide proof of participation in extracurricular activities when required).
  • Have a minimum of three years of working experience.
  • Have not obtained a masters degree prior to applying to the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program.
  • Take and submit their current score for the internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (iBT TOEFL) taken within 2 years.
  • Take and submit the score of the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) taken within 5 years if interested in pursuing a master’s degree in Business Administration.
  • Take and submit the score of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) taken within 5 years if interested in pursuing a master’s degree in Construction Management.

 

What are the tests and minimum test scores required for the scholarship program?

  • All applicants must take and submit a current score for the internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (iBT TOEFL) taken within the last 2 years.
  • Applicants interested in pursuing a master’s degree in Business Administration must take and submit the score of the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) taken within the last 5 years.
  • Applicants interested in pursuing a master’s degree in Construction Management must take and submit the score of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) taken within 5 years.

Minimum scores required:

  • TOEFL iBT : 100 or above
  • GMAT: 650 or above
  • GRE: 1000 or above (in the Verbal & Quantitative sections) & 4.5/6 or above (in the Analytical section of the exam) or a GRE score: 302 or above on the new GRE test.
 

 

What are the documentations required for the scholarship program?

Applicants must submit the following:

  • A completed Onsi Sawiris Scholarship program application form and scholarship essay.
  • Most recent résume.
  • Copy of university transcripts.
  • Copy of TOEFL iBT score report.
  • Copy of GRE score report (for Construction Management program applicants only).
  • Copy of GMAT score report (for Business Administration program applicants only).
  • Two recommendation letters from individuals able to evaluate the applicant’s job and/or academic performance.

 

When is the deadline to submit the application and application material?

Hard copy applications must be submitted to AMIDEAST/Egypt by June 15th, 2016.

Selected candidates will be contacted for interviews through the contact information listed in the application. Scholarship awards and decisions will be announced by the End of August, 2017.

 

What is the schedule of events for the scholarship program?

June 15th, 2016: Application Deadline.

September 3rd , 2016: Selection of semi-finalists and personal interviews at OC.

Second week of September, 2016: Notification of the selected applicants.

Third week of September, 2016: Program orientation for awarded recipients: an introduction to the program’s goals and provisions.

Fourth week of September 2016-April/May 2017: Placement process.

During July 2017: Orascom Construction Industries Award Ceremony.

During July 2017: Pre-departure orientation.

During August 2017: Departure of awarded recipients to the United States.
